The Sacred Heart University music program is the place for you if you love music. Participate in one of our ensembles, and you’ll have the opportunity to make friends and be around others who share your interests. We have exciting choral groups and vocal ensembles where you can use, develop and showcase your unique vocal talents and abilities in a friendly and nurturing environment.

Currently, we are inviting all singers to audition for our Choir Leadership Grant, a renewable scholarship open to students participating in the Liturgical Choir and the choir program. Instrumentalists are invited to participate in the Band, and are eligible for the Pioneer Band grant. A number of students participate in both the choir and band grant programs.

Our varied choral and instrumental groups, from the 4 Heart Harmony Chamber Choir, the Concert Choir, the Concert Band, Guitar ensemble to the Jazz band among others, offer a great place to use your talents! For those that want to take their interest even further, we offer a music minor with interesting and exciting courses.

This program is designed to prepare students who are interested in music, but not as performers, for entry level positions in the music industry in the areas of artist management, music publishing, talent agencies, concert promotion, and music retail.

The general music degree provides the foundation for future performers, composers, educators, writers and researchers, and music therapists. Students receive training in instrumental and vocal techniques and performance, music theory, and music history. Students who plan to transfer to a four-year college or university are advised to complete this course of study.
