Course Content
MSc Music Technology involves the investigation of innovative sound and audio effects technology in the arts and cultural industries including contemporary music, performing arts, visual arts, and live installations (`VJ’s’, club installations etc.)
The course will offer students an opportunity to work collaboratively with visual designers, programmers and technologists in other convergent disciplines. It will encourage the development of broad academic, industrial and management skills for music technologists who have previously focused predominantly on narrow technical or artistic concerns.
Directed at the creative and media industries, the course integrates well with other aspects of that industry such as digital animation and video, games and interactive media, music and audio. Companies in these industries have often evolved from small loose groups of people with strongly individualistic talents. By working cooperatively they can create larger projects than any individual could manage alone. Working this way encourages unique creative synergies to take place, often to utilise some new, cutting edge technical development. We have developed the course to reproduce this creative production environment.
Core Modules:
Creative Sound Design
Creative Technologies Context
Generative Music
Performance Technologies
Research Methods, Skills & Practice
Dissertation/Final Project
Option Modules:
3D Computer Visualisation
Creative Imaging Technologies
Image Processing
Interactive Environments
Moving Image Technologies
