The Department of Music offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in music, a Bachelor of Music degree with two areas of concentration, performance and music education, and a Bachelor of Science degree in music technology. The Bachelor of Arts degree is especially useful for students wanting to do a double major in a pre-professional course of study. A Minor in Music or Music Technology is also available

Analyzes representative feature films as to genre, technique, aesthetics, and sociological impact. Designed as an introductory course. This class meets at the Canyon Country campus on Sierra Highway.
You must complete a minor of at least 18 units from those described in this catalog. In consultation with your advisor, you should select a minor that’s appropriate for your career aspirations and educational needs. Your minor advisor will advise you about this part of your academic plan.
Confirming the Minor
Confirm your intention to minor after enrolling in one course in the Department. Transfer students determine if previous courses will transfer into the minor by bringing unofficial transcripts and course descriptions to Michael. An equivalent course to Theater 10 transfers from other institutions, but it is rare to transfer other credits because comparable courses are seldom found. Since your minor will be from the Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies Department, expect to do most of your minor coursework here.

You may choose a minor field of study, commonly called a minor, along with your major. A minor usually consists of 20 credits of study. Minors are optional, but many students find that a minor is helpful in providing greater career opportunities after graduation. The requirements for the various minors are listed within individual majors as well as in this section.

This minor is for those who want to complement their skills and increase their career options.
An audition and a minimum 2.0 g.p.a. is required for all courses in the minor. Courses must be taken for a grade (not credit/no-credit). Students planning to take this minor should consult with the chief departmental adviser. This minor is not available to students majoring in Music Performance or Music Education.
