The dance curriculum focuses on the professional preparation of performers, choreographers and teachers who will acquire a breadth of understanding in the discipline. The dance minor is an opportunity for intensive study in Modern dance and ballet techniques, leading each dancer towards the culminating performance experience of Repertory Dance Theatre’s annual concert. Additional courses in dance history, dance and movement sciences, music, and technical production supplement the studio courses.

Saint Mary's now offers a minor in Dance. The dance minor complements current performing arts majors and provides more options for students in other majors. This 21-credit minor offers courses in dance techniques, dance history, dance composition, nutrition, voice and movement, and anatomy and kinesiology.
Irish Dance Track
Saint Mary's is also offering an Irish dance track - the only university-associated program in the country - which will prepare students for the certification needed to teach Irish dance.

St. Cloud State University is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Theatre. The Bachelor of Arts is designed for those students interested in careers in the theatre, including acting, directing, design, technical theatre, and management. This program of study also provides excellent preparation for the student who wishes to pursue graduate studies in the performing arts. Students receive a thorough background in dramatic literature, history, and theory, and opportunities for intensive study in performance, directing and advanced design.
A student majoring in dance has several degree options; a BA in dance, a BA in dance with NK-12 teaching certification, or a BFA in dance with a minor in another field in the fine arts. Students who want to minor in dance have two choices, either a minor in performance or a minor in teaching. Double majors and double minors are also available at Sweet Briar.
