PG in Audio Visual Production at University of North London United Kingdom

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

We aim to give graduates from visual arts degrees (or those with equivalent professional experience) the opportunity to develop and expand their own practice through the making of short films. This predominately practice-based course encourages you to locate your work within the growing range of documentary, dramatic and experimental filmmaking and to extend the emerging visual grammars of those genres. Ultimately we offer you an opportunity to develop your skills through practice and intellectual enquiry whilst being attuned to potential audiences, markets and employers.

You are expected to crew on each other’s productions and to work effectively as part of a team, drawing on your peers’ expertise and experience.

The course also provides a thorough understanding of the principles and day-to-day practice of freelance and independent production, as well as grounding in business skills, commercial awareness and entrepreneurship.
Students on the MA in Audio Visual Production (AVP) and the MA Digital Moving Image (DMI) courses are encouraged to have a creative and supportive working relationship with each other. This synergy is reflected in the sharing of three modules across both courses. The MA AVP and DMI courses are located in two adjacent dedicated studios equipped with high definition editing and animation workstations.

For over a century, the University of North Alabama has enjoyed a long tradition of being a successful teacher training institution. Graduates of our Vocal/Choral and Instrumental Music Education programs have had successful teaching careers not only in Alabama but in surrounding states, as well as evidenced through high ratings at the district and state levels. One major contributing factor to our graduate’s success is the quality of instruction given by faculty who have had successful experiences teaching in elementary and secondary schools. Several graduates of our music education programs have held positions of leadership at the state level. One of the best compliments for our music education program is the level of support of our graduates who encourage their students to come to UNA to prepare for a teaching career, either as band directors or choral directors. Recently, a new dimension was added to our teacher preparation program; strings education. This will help furnish string teachers to meet need that now exists in this area.

If you are serious about becoming a music educator, look at what we have to offer at UNA, request additional information about our programs, and arrange a visit!
