Degree in Audiology Admission at Missouri State University

All applicants must first apply to the Missouri State Graduate College before the February 1st Deadline. Applications may be downloaded below (press cancel to bypass the password screen). After the applicant is accepted into the graduate college, a departmental selection committee reviews applicants who meet the minimum qualifications for admission which include: a GPA of 3.00, a GRE score, three letters of recommendation (we do not provide forms for this, please have your references submit their own forms), and a detailed letter indicating why you are choosing this profession.

The number of students who can enter the program each year is limited. Admission to the program is on a competitive basis. Applicants are notified by mail once their application is complete. Bachelor of Music Education at Mississippi State University

The Bachelor of Music Education is a degree designed to enable students to be educated and certified as professional music educators. Our unique 4:1 student to teacher ratio ensures each student the individual attention desired in a professional setting.
Instrumental: Course Sequence: Core Requirements: Checklist The curriculum in instrumental music education is designed to prepare instrumental music teachers for positions in junior high schools and high schools.
Students who complete this program are fully qualified for licensure by the Mississippi Department of Education.
This program provides the student with a balanced curriculum, combining the practical and theoretical aspects of music education.
To insure core competency necessary for the field, all instrumental majors must pass the Piano Proficiency Exam and all portions of the Upper Division Proficiency Exam (consult Departmental Handbook) and must participate in the University Band every semester of their attendance at MSU except the semester in which they student teach.
Students are advised to participate in more than two ensembles only after consultation with their advisor and/or the department head.
All Instrumental Music Education majors must study the same instrument in applied lessons for at least six semesters, the last of which will culminate in a Senior Recital.

The Music Department offers programs in both traditional and commercial music, providing courses for students planning to transfer to four-year institutions in both majors as well as for students completing general education requirements. Student may also earn certificates or associate degrees in commercial music majors. Performance opportunities are available for both music and non-music majors.

Careers in traditional music include professional performance, conducting, arts management, composing, academic research, and public and private teaching. Employment opportunities in the commercial music industry include audio recording, computerized music systems, sound reinforcement and production.

Entrance into the program requires a formal recommendation by the applied teacher before the end of the Freshman year. Before being considered for the program, the applicant must demonstrate ability as a performer. The Bachelor of Music is offered in Voice, Piano, Organ, Percussion, Winds, and Strings.

a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 (C)

Though Minnesota State Mankato does offer a course in basic music-reading skills, it is strongly advised that you begin those studies prior to arriving.

The Associate in Fine Arts in Music is designed to provide a means for music students to pursue a path with seamless transition to a four-year music degree and to be best prepared for a degree and/or career in music. The AFA emphasizes a fine arts focus within a discipline area of study, and offers students preparation for fine arts study at the university level. The AFA in Music at M State allows for a choral or instrumental emphasis, and ensures that students will have the necessary coursework to prepare for advanced studies in music.
